SMART WATER VALVE CONTROLLER BOARD (MSP430F147)

The board mounts inside of the valve housing. The controller continuously monitors water flow to determine if a leak has occurred and can then close the valve to turn off the water. The valve is designed so it can be (if necessary) mounted in a meter pit outdoors. The valve board communicates with a control panel and interfaces with a system power supply and flow sensor. The valve controller will operate autonomously if the communications link with the control panel is broken. Low power consumption, high noise immunity, and harsh industrial environmental conditions were key requirements met by the MSP430. Overall cost effectiveness of the MSP430 as well as its well-developed tool chain, debugging capability, and “C” friendly architecture contributed to this design win.
